Our Story
Picasso Exotic Aquatics was created with one goal in mind: to bring Kansas City a new kind of aquarium experience.
Founded in the winter of 2010 by John and Karen Young, Picasso was built for hobbyists, enthusiasts, and anyone who shared a love for the living aquatic world. From the beginning, their vision was to create more than just a store. They wanted to offer healthy animals, quality products, trustworthy advice, and a dependable maintenance service that customers could truly rely on.
That commitment to service came from personal experience. After seeing the frustrations caused by another local aquarium service company, the Youngs recognized an opportunity to do things differently. They believed aquarium care should be professional, consistent, and centered around the long-term success of both the aquarium and the customer.
In 2023, after more than a decade of building Picasso Exotic Aquatics, John and Karen were ready to retire. They offered the opportunity to carry the business forward to Clint Hudon, who had been the second employee hired back in 2010. Having grown with the company from its earliest days, Clint understood the heart of Picasso and the standard of care it was built on.
Today, Clint and his wife Courtney operate Picasso Exotic Aquatics alongside an extraordinary team. Together, they continue the original mission: to provide the Kansas City metro with exceptional aquarium service, healthy livestock, expert guidance, and a strong commitment to the local aquatic community.
